What do you all think? I was thinking about this JET MAF sensor. It's pretty darn expensive, but if it's worth it, I may go for it.

Most guys shy away from aftermarket MAF sensors. The tuners don't seem to want to tune cars using them, probably because they don'y know the response curve. Spend your $300 elsewhere....you'll be happier.

On their website, JET claims this works with most tunes, though. Think they're just throwing their sales pitch out there?

Nothing, I just heard a performance MAF can increase your HP by a considerable amount. True? False??

False. The Granatelli for example MAY pick up 10HP or so, because its intentional miscalibration tells the PCM there is less air flowing at high air flow levels, and leans out the overly rich STOCK power enrichment (PE) mode tune. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You could achieve the same (or better) gains with a simply mail order tune, where the tuner leans out the PE mode targe A/F ratio in the programming. Then when you move up with additional engine mod's, the tuner can use what he knows about the stock MAF sensor to modify the tune further.

Tune costs way less than an intentionally miscalibrated MAF sensor, and the tuner will guarantee the gains, even on a stock engine.

@Injuneer:

Okay, great. That was one of my next questions. In your opinion, what mail-order tuner would probably have the most benefit on my 1995 Z28? A place you would recommend/buy from?

We have a tuner listed in the Supporting Vendors Index. These are the people who help make this site possible.
