Jet-hot long tube guys INSIDE NOW

Passenger side front header bolt, the one that shares the stud with the alternator. I had this exhaust leak. Everything was tightened except that so I figured I would check it and sure enough it was backed out a bit. Problem is that I cannot get it tightened down cause I cannot get a wrench or socket on it because it's so close to the header tube. This was probably a problem on the initial install and obviously I never got it tight enough in the first place. So how do I get this tightened in?

yep, you are going to have to dent the tube. Take a wooden dowel and tap on that with a hammer. Makes a very nice contour without leaving marks.

May I suggest you use crows feet. Remove the alternator and try that, it should work, it would just take a LONG time I'm sure.

Alternator is long gone. That's how I took the picture. Crows feet?

Its like the end of an open ended wrench that you can put on your ratchet.

Yeah, I tried to "modify" a wrench to work. I could also use one like the bottom wrench if it was a 9/16ths

your local hardware store should have grade 5 allen head bolts of the appropriate size.

It's the origina stud cause I need it for the alternator bracket and either way, I cannot get it tight or loose, so if anything, it's just getting tightened.

Yeah dude, toss that alt bracket. You dont need it. I didnt use mine and neither does about 3 other people I know . It will be fine without it. Get those stage 8's so you can use the allen head wrench. It will make your world a whole lot easier.

I dont use that bracket at all. I tossed it as well. Sh*t I dont even use the long bolt with the nut on it either....only cuz I didnt tighten it enough and it fell off... oops. But the 2 bolts that hold the alt to the bracket that connects to the engine hold it just fine.

I dont have either of the back brackets on mine.........I only use the main bracket up front to hold it there

If it makes you feel better look at some of the old small blocks and see how they are held on!! 1 bolt on the bottom and then on bolt in the slider for adjustment!!
