Jesel shaft mount rockers?

what are the difficulties of using these on LT1 heads? i've read of machine work needed...
i have a chance at picking some up (1.55's) for a decent price used and was wondering how i can tell the difference between the LT1 style rockers and the SBC's if there is a difference?. he says they came off LT1 heads (but who knows)
i figure since LT1 has slightly different valve spacing then gen1 heads that there has to be issues with them somewhere

should i just stick with my pro mags?

You might check with ThunderRacing... They sell the T&D shaft set... Might give you some helpful hints...

Call Jessel and get the part number for LT-1.Then see if the set you are going to buy is the same. If they aren't don't even think about trying to make them work.

Re: Jesel shaft mount rockers?

most likely you will need to have the screw in stud areas machined for the shaft mount rockers to have the right geometry. I just went thru this with the T & D's that I bought from Thunder, cost $100

You will also have the valve cover & alternator problem that I'm going thru.
You need a taller valve cover to clear the shaft mounts and that causes a problem with the alternator. There is a good chance that it will only work if it's relocated. I'm looking into smaller alternators right now but not very many people seem to have shaft mount rockers and keep the AC and alternator in the same place.

1racer,

Do you happen to have any pics of those?
You're saying you had the end notched?
Which Shaft mount rockers do you have and what valve covers did you buy?

Thanks
Tom

Re: Jesel shaft mount rockers?

It's impossible to get the valve covers and everything to fit in the stock location with shaft mount rockers. I can get Jesels' dirt cheap, but it's not worth the extra cost in my opinion if it's just a warmed over street car. I've got pro mags and have been running them for 3 years now. Went through 2 engines and 5 valve springs with no troubles

Re: Jesel shaft mount rockers?

sounds like i'll just stick with the pro mags, the jesel's are prolly overkill for my application anyway
