Unhappy Its Done......

It is with a heavy heart that I must say this......My motor is on its last leg. I got her all buttoned back up last night after changing head gaskets only to drive it and feel it for about an hour before the oil pressure went south. I cant explain why this happened, I'm to bumed and in dissbelief to even think about why. I must say this, She was a good motor, hell 13.4@106 for an LT1? Basicly stock. We had some good times, and some bad times. I will go home today and put her down for good. She has faught the good fight, beaten down many a Mustangs. Unless by some miracle of god that when I go home today and start her up and she is ok, then I will proceed to take her all apart, again. And that will be the last time she has roared to life................

Ok that is the sad part of me,

AAAAHHHHHHHH GOD DAMIT!, ****** ******! W T F MAN?!?!?!?!? PIECE OF ******* SH*T! I SWEAR!!!! AAAHHHHH SH*T! SOB!

And that is the PO'ed side of me,

Well, what can you do? Its Murpheys law, and me and him are good buddies unfourtunatly. I guess I will just rebuild her back to stock since I have a lack of funds. But we will see what happens. I just want to drive my car

Re: Its Done......

Many of us have been through the same exact thing. With my current motor, I finally got everything together and ready after 5 MONTHS and everything was great. With less than 500 miles on it, I lost oil pressure. I was pissed and sad...still am, but it won't matter in a couple weeks. Water under the bridge as they say.

Good luck with finding your problem and fixing it. Now that you have done it one time, it will be easier the second time.

Re: Its Done......

Well how bad did the oil pressure get??? Did it just drop all of the sudden?? Maybe she just needs a new heart (oil pump). If not may she rest in peices in motor heaven where all the mustangs are slow.

Re: Its Done......

It went down gradually, and then at about 15-20psi it wouls just hit rock bottom. I checked th oil this morning, it was gray and sparkling It is done. I wonder if I should even try and change the oil and put some 20-50 in it.

Re: Its Done......

I'm very sorry to hear that. This time last year I lost a head gasket. One month and $3500 later I had it going again with a brand new engine. Then two weeks ago I stuffed it under a van. So far the tab for that incident is approaching $1200, and that doesn't include any of the interior pieces that the airbags destroyed(both bags, most of the pass. side dash, glove box, etc..). Oh well, it should be back on the road in a month or so, though I know it'll never be the same. I can only imagine what'll happen to it a year from now. I think so far that I have had to put an engine in or do major work on everything I have owned in the past five years.

Re: Its Done......

I would think most likely if u spun a bearing it wouldnt drop that fast. I could be wrong. Its possible your oil pump ate itself up and the pressure dropped. I wasnt driving my car when it spun a bearing so i dont know what the pressure did.

Re: Its Done......

I assume you changed the oil when you had the heads off. If so, you coiuld have a plugged oil filter. It happened to me once just like you explained it. Change the filter and see what happens.

Re: Its Done......

I just changed the oil and filter. I cut the filter open and it was full of metal, same with the oil, it was a dark grey instead of a clean or dirty oil. You can see all of the bearing material in the oil. I drove it and the pressure is at 40ish at start up, but the damage is done. It sounds so good to with the LT's
