its alive, but we have problems!!!!
Alright guys,
I just changed the opti, water pump, plugs, ovc wires. Well the car will run when the elbow CAI, and the piece between is off. But when I go to put it on and plug the sensor to that middle piece in, the car will die. Also when the car is running with the CAI, elbow, and that other piece off, after about 5-10 min, the coolant start to over flow out of the over flow. The temp is staying around 200-210. The car is not moving so that is about normal for the temp, so what is causing these problems. Any info would be great. Thanks

Re: its alive, but we have problems!!!!
If your leaving the MAF unplugged when you run it with the elbow off then it sounds like a bad MAF sensor. Why were you running it with the elbow and filter etc not on anyway?
Re: its alive, but we have problems!!!!
i was seeing if it would start up, before i start tearing it back down if it did not start. I looked at the MAF, there is 5 little sensors in side it looks like, 3 on one and 2 on the other side, is there suppose to be 6, 3 on both sides? Also does anyone know why the coolant is coming out of the over flow?
Re: its alive, but we have problems!!!!
I'm not sure why coolant would come out of the overflow if it wasn't over heating. The guage could lie though, maybe you have an air pocket or something?? I'm not sure how many fins are supposed to be in the MAF. If not one responds i can go look tomorrow, it's off my car at the moment.
Atco is closed, i think they reopen in march. They're doing some upgrades now too, should be an even better track come spring. http://www.atcorace.com/

Re: its alive, but we have problems!!!!
Right now we have to make too many assumptions since you have included almost no information about the vehicle
As far as the boil over problem, the first thing to suspect is air trapped in the system. Couple of things can help with regard to this. One, be sure the overflow is filled when the car is shut down. The next morning top off the radiator after the engine has cooled for a few hours. Start up the engine with the cap loose and see if the level drops down the first few moments of running. If so, add what is needed obviously. If needed, open one or both of the air bleeds near the thermostat to be sure air doesn't come out once it reaches operating temperature. Check it after sitting overnight once again. A faulty radiator cap could also cause your boil over problem but if you didn't have the problem before you messed with the cooling system than that is probably not the problem.
It would also be nice to know if there are codes set regardless of whether the SES is on or not since some codes do NOT set a SES light.
It may be helpful to tell us just why you changed the ignition components and any history of problems both before and after the work was done.
Just for the record you are talking about this located between the CAI and the elbow

correct?
What had me confused is you should also have this as well.

Although this won't cut the engine off.

Re: its alive, but we have problems!!!!
Alright the reason I changed everything was because it over heated one day because the water pump went out, so since i was going to change the water pump, i would change the opti while I'm in there. And since I was working on it, the wires and plugs needed to be changed also. I will fill everything back up today and see if i can bleed the system some more. I was told that the MAF might be bad, so I might try to be locating one of these soon. The car has been sitting for a few months, since I have not had time to work on it, but the last few days i had off, and put it all back together. Also now my headlights will not come up now when i turn the lights on, the motor does not spin or anything, is the both the motors went bad, has anyone else had this problem?
Re: its alive, but we have problems!!!!
did you reinstall the 2 small ones aty the top in the correct spot? if switched, it will blow coolant out the overflow
the one from the engine goes to the bottom port
