internal engine selection.

so i get a call from my mechanic..."your new motor...JUNK" my father did the work and everything he did went to hell in 1500 miles of babying the car (only over 3 grand 2 times) so im just going to replace everything. im running the gm847 cam with stock heads (upgraded valvetrain obviously) but my dilema is, which pistons should i go with? which rods? and so on, the car isnt a daily driver, its just a fun weekend car and i dont make real long trips in it. i want to keep it std. bore, the crank is ok and doesnt need to be milled, the cyl walls are perfect the only thing that happened is the rings failed. so what pistons and such would you suggest id like to keep it around 10.5:1- 11:1 compression i called summit to ask what they suggested and they told me that they didnt make a forged piston for the LT1 so i said well ill call back
oh and the reason i want to swap the internals is because if i would have had my way the 1st time it would have been done but my dad refused to use new parts and refused to put any of the mods i had for it (he did all the work prety much behind my back so that my brother could drive it) and fyi i own the car i paid for it but it was being stored at his house. sorry about the ramble but what are sume suggestions? you all havent steered me wrong yet!
