Interally or Externally Balanced?

Hey guys, I'm having trouble finding a rotating assembly to buy. Are LT1s internal or externally balanced? I was looking at some of the eagle street strip packages.

The LT1 has a neutral (zero) balance harmonic damper but a counter weighted (external balance) flywheel/flexplate. So, you could say it's both but it is more accurate to call it externally balanced. It is often best to have the machine shop working on your motor buy the parts.

Thanks a bunch. Which flywheel should I go with? 153 or 168?

I'm going to go directly through Eagle Specialty products.

Yep, externally balanced. As Rich said the flywheel or flexplate has a weight on it. If you buy a rotating assembly that is internally balanced then you need to have the flywheel or flexplate neutral balanced. IMHO then you have a special item. I would stick with the external balance as then you can use factory parts without modification.

I found eagle specialty products carries balanced rotating assemblys. They say Internal front, and external rear. These are what i'm seeing listed at shops for LT1. They include the flywheel... I just dont know how many teeth I need.
