intake sucking air?????

I dont know if this is the reason my car is ****in up or what but how bad would my car run if my intake was sucking air? When i tightened the bolts down the passenger side went down really wierd, so i am thinking that it is sucking air. I pulled the cold air and everything so the intake was just sucking air straight into it and then put a piece of cardboard over it to see if it would die and it didnt but it did my idile did go down alittle.

He he, he means air getting in where it should not, like sucking air through the intake gasket cause it is not sealing correctly.

You might be able to spray some starting fluid on the manifold in different spots and see if the idle goes up, if it does then you have a leak in that area.
I am not the best at engine stuff so maybe someone else has a better idea.

I'm pretty sure it should die, and die right away if you blocked all the air to the throttle body. Check the duct work from where your blocking the CAI, look for leaks and don't forget the bellows (aka: donky dong) it can pull air as well. YOur intake could have a leak but you should check all your vacuum hoses on the intake first.

Do you mean the intake manifold gasket? If so, check your oil. Often it will have gas in it.

If you are talking about the piping going into the throttle body that will screw up your car too as air will be bypassing the MAF.
