Intake Stud Size?

Intake Stud Size?

ok I need remove the egr and steam pipe studs from the rear of my intake and dont know what size socket i would need.Or maybe what size "die" i would need to clean up the threads.

The studs for the EGR valve and EGR exhaust feed pipe (which is what I think you mean) are 5/16"-18 thread. You can double nut them (jamming the nuts together) to get the studs out. Even if you remove the EGR system, you still need something to hold the blockoff plates on, so why not leave the studs there?

Stupid me, when i had my intake powdercoated the guy painted over the studs. now i have the intake mounted on the car and i cant get the nuts to go on the studs because of the paint. I tried to clean them up with a wire brush but its a pain and didnt really work . So once i remove them i can properly clean them up.

Just run a die in on them and you won't have to remove them. I guess you can be happy that the powdercoating took really well.

Steam pipe is not mounted on studs or on the intake. The steam pipe bolts to the back of the heads.
