Intake Mischief... Pics Inside!

Alright, here it goes. Today I just got back my intake from a local sandblasting and powdercoating shop. When I first saw it I was a little bit worried because the valley was painted on the inside. When I brought it in a few days earlier, I thought that I had made it clear that I DID NOT WANT IT SANDBLASTED ON THE INTERIOR OR THE GASKET SURFACES. The guy told me that it was going to be all taped off and that they do intakes all the time. He also knocked $25 off cause he was late on finishing it. I told him that I was worried about the paint coming off and possibly destroying my engine once installed. The guy told me that since it was powdercoated it will stand up to alot heat. I believed him on that part . Then I asked if they cleaned out all of the sand in the hard to reach places, he said "Ya we did". I came home and remove the bottom plate and found SAND all over. Now my questions are, Will the Paint hold up on the inside?? and if I decide to use engine flushing solvents like "Seafoam", will It strip the Paint??? Sorry for the long post but INPUT PLZ!!

Looks like there's grease under the sand, so they didn't even clean it well. That makes me think the powdercoat isn't going to last long.

- Best remove those core plugs also. Guaranteed there is sand combined with some sludge inside there, just waiting to sneak out. I was amazed at how much glass-bead media came out of mine.

Remove the oil splash pan, any fittings, and ESPECIALLY the core plugs! After I sandblasted my intake at a buddies shop, I had tons of sand come out. If you dont do this, all of that sand behind the plugs and other areas will find their way into your motor, and the results of that will be diasterous. You should completely dissasemble the intake, take it down to your local machine shop, and have them run it through their jet wash SEVERAL times. Then bring it home, fill a bucket or tub with soap and warm water, wash and rinse it again, let it dry, then install the core plugs, oil splash pan, and fittings.

I would be afraid to even put that thing on my engine.

Sand in nooks and crannies that are hard to get to?

Sand locked in underneath powdercoat that will fall off because of improper cleaning...

If it was me, I'd take it to someone new and have the job redone PROPERLY.

I would then give the first guy the option to pay the second guy's bill. If he balked, I'd remind him that he probably wouldn't want a guy with a big mouth like me to be upset with his service.

Ugh they powdercoated the top rails too? I'd get that redone, honestly it looks terrible.
