Intake Manifold ?'s

What happens if you don't put the metal piece back onto the bottom of the intake. Is that going to cause problems with the PCV system. I unbolted it to clean all of the gunk from underneath it and wondered if it needed to go back on. It had a lot of crustiness on the underside and didn't want chunks to come off and fall into the engine.

Thanks,

Bryan

Yes, if it's not in there you will have excess oil in the PCV system......clean it real good (or get another one if its too crusty) ...Joe

That is also put their to prevent heat from the lifter valley from heat soaking the manifold, whether it works i have no idea.
