intake manifold removal
I have a 94 LT1 formula, and yes I have that intake manifold leak, can anyone give me a website that will help me out in removing my intake, so I can replace the gaskets, and what would be some good brand of gaskets to use, maybe also use some of that sealer to prevent further leakage.

Re: intake manifold removal
Its a pretty straight foward proccess. Sorry I don't have a write up on it but you can get the instructions in any book like Chiltons or Haynes. One thing, you don't want to use the gaskets for the front and the rear. Just buy some high temp. rtv and put about a good 3/8" beed on the surface making sure to put a small amount onto to intake manifold gaskets. As for the intake manifold gaskets just go to your local auto parts store and get what they have in stock but remember that the Lt1 uses a specific style gasket that doesn't have the coolant crossover ports. Good luck it really isn't a tough job to do just be as clean as you can. You don't want any crud in your engine.

Here's a set of instructions for a '95, should be very close to a '94:

I also used Permatex "The Right Stuff" to do mine and that was about 55k (miles) ago. No leak yet (knock on wood)

Re: intake manifold removal
I did this repair on my 94 Z28. Not very hard but a little scary for the first time.
To give you an idea:
disconnect battery
remove belt
remove alternator
unbolt fuel rail
vacuum lines etc.
throttle body linkages (most of the obvious stuff)
the manifold will be on pretty good so use a rubber mallet and give it some luv taps.
Go slowly, note the bolts and locations of small stuff.
Hint: Take at least 4-5 good digital pics of the top before you start. Will help on buttoning up portion.
I did this repair 4 x due to mess ups. takes about half a day. After the first time, will take about 2.5 hours turn around.
the other tips from the members very helpful and true!!! I know firsthand.

Re: intake manifold removal
Be very careful when setting the intake back down when reinstalling. I smeared my RTV when I did it and had an even worse leak down the back of the engine.
Second time I did it took about 2.5 hours and I made very sure I set the intake down from directly above so as not to smear my RTV beads.
