INTAKE MANIFOLD OPTIONS, need clarification on choices...
Hey guys, ok as we know, there seems to be a surge of interest in manifold options for these cars....
As far as myself I would be interested in something designed for a H/C NA 350...
I am curious though as to what setups are ideal for which cars?
Everyone knows we can port the LT1 manifold and yield some results, although as the recent BRE PRO RAM claims - there is big power to be made by ditching the GM casting altogether.
I am getting hung up on some of this terminology....
Single plane vs. LT1
Carb style vs. ??
"carb style with elbow"
Its starting to confuse me somewhat, and the reason I am second guessing some of the claims on this board along with my own thoughts are that I just got off the phone with Steve Quinn at Norushracing.com who makes the LTX intake for $1500...by basically doing surgery on a factory casting. He said that this intake is only meant for 383/396 applications OR engines turning well past 7000 rpm....even though I have seen many people reccomend this intake for anyone, thinking that bigger is always better...wronggg
Another thought that has popped into my head as of lately was the Holley MPFI intake show in Summit that fits "small chevys"...I am assuming that the bolt pattern may not line up, because the thermostat housing is actually on the front of the manifold and I assume this is typical of non LT1 engines, but rather earlier gen SBC's??...It uses a holley 58mm throttle body though, with normal fuel injection pattern for injectors, and some really nice looking rails, etc...any thoughts on this, such as if it is even possible to get this to work on an LT1 or to scrap that idea altogether...
If anyone can, lets try to classify some of these intake choices into: engine displacement/RPM/powerband (for example holley claims idle-6k which is nice for street cars) and also price relative to style: LT1, single plane, carb style, etc?
THANKS!

ALSO - I almost forgot to mention, PLEASEEE include pictures if possible, this is the easiest way to explain something, doesnt matter if its off of a website or your own car, I just want to make sure I make the right choice, whether it be with a BRE PRO RAM, Holley, or simply messing around with the stock casting...I tried looking on WILSON's website, but I must not have been searching correctly, because I am a little lost as to what is possible for an LT1...it just said SBC
THANKS AGAIN!
