intake manifold gasket and rtv

ok which side of the intake gasket do i put the rtv on, on the side that touches the head, the side that touchs the intake, or both? i need to know ASAP, thanks.

It's your choice if you want to put RTV on the gasket, itself. I didn't put any at all.

ok i was going off of what haynes and chiltons say, so i will be safe with just the gasket and the rtv on the front and back?

I guess the reason the intakes leak is because GM was too stingy on the sealants at esp. the rear of the intake. so it's important to be generous with the RTV at the rear mating surfaces. With a good quality gasket a proper torqing you should be ok. JMHO

Don't use sealant on the gaskets. Lay gaskets on, retain with the white clips, put a good bead of silicone on just the front and rear of the block and around the tabs of the gaskets.

I always let the car sit at least 10 hours to let the RTV cure after fixing intake leaks.
