A regular SBC intake will not fit an LT1.

The LT4 intake is NOT an upgrade over an LT1 intake.

Edelbrock sells an intake though sofar it does not look worthwhile.

Problem here is you are assuming you need a differnt intake when REALITY is the stock works amazingly well for a very wide range of purposes. It is not perfect but is also not the place to go looking to waste money.

This just arrived yesterday....

Also using this guy with it....

This stuff will replace my well ported LT4 intake, which is also setup for a mono-blade and my 58 mm TB.

How about a price tag???

Then later the gains seen from it.

Think it will make my point that intake swaps are for only the most aggressive setups, not something the average guy should consider.

I bought that intake and the mono-blade used for $1K shipped.

For a setup like mine and going to a F.A.S.T. system where rpm limits no longer exist due to the stock pcm...I wanted to make more available volume to my motor...the runners are bigger and the intake is bigger.

Nice looking set-up (both fabricated intake and mono-blade), so who built it up? Also on the intake runners, it looks like ports for both the EFI injectors and port injection N2O nozzles.

Also, with your FAST system; what distributor setup are you going to run? As I recall, with the FAST system module you no longer need the high/low resolution pulses from the Opti. Although, I believe some people retain the Opti with the FAST system for the “cap and rotor” function only. And the FAST system still provides the required timing (spark) advance to the Opti (correct)?

I’ll also be interested to see how well the new intake system performs. An interesting test would be dyno comparisons between both intake systems (standard LT4 and the new fabricated) at the RPM you’re turning.

very nice looking intake!!!!!!!!!
my only concern about installing an intake such as this is the money spent!
i like to see where it compares to the overall performance gains, there are many guys
running awesome times with the stock Lt1 casting ported.
Ed Wright
Taner Bosnali
Rick Abare
Glenn Waguespack
just to name a few,run very hard with the factory ported intake.
chevrolet did an awesome job on an intake that flows at high rpm
as well as low.......

The intake was ran on INTMD8's old setup. Who made it...I have no idea as I bought it used from someone that bought it from Jim.

As for comparisions for a power gain, I will never know because my current dyno and track numbers are will a faulty opti and as time goes on the motor will still break in and giving more to the new setup than there should be.

Not to mention the F.A.S.T. system will skew results with a more accurate control of engine functions. I will be using the opti as my pickup with my F.A.S.T. system, which is referred to as the classic version, not the nice, new version that is being sold.

I purchased it because I thought it was a great deal...I really did not need the parts being my next combo is going to be a twin turbo setup, but I thouht about trying to get into the low 10's on motor, on 93 octane and being somewhat streetable. Not to many LT1's doing that.
