Intake and head questions??
Intake and head questions??
Im in the process of building a 383 with some LE heads. What i was wondering is i know of an intake that was ported from a 92 vette, Will this intake work on a 1995 formula? I think it will but im not sure. Also should i spend the money on the intake or not? I was thinking the afr heads should be about the same when it comes to the intake.
The heads are milled .0100 Do i need to change my push rods to a shorter rod so i dont put the springs in to a bind. Or will that just raise the lift of the cam?
Where is the cheapest place to pick up an opti and a electric water pump??
Thanks guys

Re: Intake and head questions??
If it is an LT1 intake it should work.
What you have to be worry about when swaping cams and pushrods (especially milling heads) is the rocker/valve geometry. On Comp Cams website there is a tutorial on it. You should be ok since your not taking off that much off the heads. Just good assurance that you check the geometry after putting all the hard work/money into your motor.
If your looking for a CSI/CSR water pump, the best price I know of is $149.95 SDPC2000. Summit is $159, Jegs is $169. Don't know about the opti though. Hope this helps ya out.

Re: Intake and head questions??
It isn't going to work. The 92 and 93 Corvette LT1's, and the 93 F-Body LT1's used batch fire injectors. They have different configuration on the fuel rails, and as a result the intakes on those cars did not have the groove on the top of the front of the intake for the diagonal fuel cross-over line. That groove is only on 1994 and newer LT1's. Your 95 fuel rails will not fit on the 92 intake manifold.
Re: Intake and head questions??
I guess the intake won't work out for you after all.
Why don't you just get your stock intake ported? Are you worried about downtime? Getting your stock manifold ported will be near the same cost anyways. Just a thought.

I like what it says on the label of Old Fart wine: "Be bold, go for the old."
