Installing new valve covers

I just won an auction for red powder coated valve covers, I didnt get them yet, but I have one question, Do you need to remove the engine to install the valve covers?

BTW its in a 96 Camaro Z28 w/ LT1 engine

Thanks a lot

Most definitly not.

There is a lot you can do to these motors without removing the engine. You will have to remove the alternator and some other minor items.

You should pick yourself up a Haynes Manual as there is a lot of good info to be read. It also gives you somewhat of a step by step on how to do most everything from the little maintenance down to some of the big jobs.

You don't have to remove the engine. You have to take the valve covers off when you do a roller rocker or spring install, and you don't have to take them off then either.

You might want new valve cover gaskets though, depending on what shape they are in.

Re: Installing new valve covers

you never know this is an LT1......... almost have to pull the motor to do a spark-plug change..........lol Somethings on this car could have been designed better.

If he pulls it now for the valve covers just think how good he will be when it's time to do headers or a spark-plug change.

but in reality you don't have to pull the motor just to change valve covers.....that would be rediculus.
