Installing the LT1. VATS disabled???

First off, Im at a very confusing stage in life where I am confused as to which section to post in, the third gen section or the LT1 section. All that aside, I have a 1994 LT1/T56 going in my 87 Camaro. Must I disable the VATS in order for my car to start? If so, how is this accomplished? If I can do it without spending money, I would like to, please help, Im running out of time on this. Thank you.

first, yes, you need to disable VATS

two ways to do it, get the PCM flashed to turn it off, or, get one of these

Most VATS questions end up in the General Tech section (all years in that forum). You will have to spend a little money. It will cost less than a dollar to buy a resistor to bypass the key pellet, but that is not the only thing you have to do. You must also either re-program the computer to eliminate VATS or buy a bypass module that mimics the fuel enable signal the VATS module sends to the computer.
Another option instead of using a resistor to bypass the key pellete is to bypass the theft deterrent relay by wiring around it. That enables you to engage the starter, but you still must have the bypass module or VATS programmed out for the car to run.

shoebox, the resistor trick won't work for him, he put a94 LT1 in a 87, which had no VATS, so he needs either it turned off in the PCM, or the box I linked that sends the correct signal to the PCM(the signal originally sent by the VATS module/BCM)

I did not know how far back VATS went and sometimes I get caught up with 4th gen thinking.

thats what I figured, just FYI, VATS was a rare option on 88 f-bodys, pretty much standard in 89
