Do a search, theres A LOT of info on header install.
Also might want to check out www.projecttransam.com

but take your time and any extra help is better.

Also, do plugs and wires while u are at it.

If your gonna do a cam soon, think about maybe doing EVERYTHING at once. At least, thats what i'd do.

A pair of mechanic type gloves. Serious, I tore my hands up on a friend's install.

you should only have to take off the y-pipe, the alternator, you may want to take the engine mount bolts off and jack up the engine a bit to make room. Thats really about it. From what I've heard you may want to invest in an Over the valve cover wires set up so you don't get the infamous burnt plug wire problem.

I would soak the bolts in PBBreaker or another good lubricant.
I'd soak the bolts a few hours before the install and again when your about to do that bolt.

Breaking a bolt off in the head will be a serious PITA.

very true. I actually soaked my bolts while the engine was still hot. They came out like butter. It was weird. I expected to have a lot of trouble with bolts. Wasn't too bad, gettin to them was the hard part!

Here is the install guide I used when putting mine on...

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody...be_install.doc

Like someone else mentioned, definately soak the bolts. Put quite a bit on. Might have helped me out if I would have sprayed more on mine since one of the bolts broke off in the head. Had to have the car towed in and pay $150 to get it taken out
Good luck.

Here is a tip change your spark plus because the edlebrock headers will make it a 3-4 hr job in the future.

Installing Hooker shorties, I had to remove the oil filter so you might plan on an oil change. I also did plugs and wires at the same time and put in new O2 sensors. Plan on removing the alternator and the starter. PB Blaster on manifold bolts, y pipe bolts and cat bolts. Air tools make y pipe bolts easier. I had to separate the steering linkage and getting it back together was tricky. I recommend quality gaskets and Stage 8 bolts. Have some 600 grit sandpaper for the dipstick tube to make reinstalling it easier. Take your time and it's not really that hard.

I used PB Blaster on the header bolts about a week before I changed the headers. Put it on every other day or so . That way it will heat up and cool down and those bolts will practically fall out!!! I had to remove oil filter, starter, altinator, and steering knuckle. Probably didn't have to take the filter off, but I did that first, then realized it would be easier to just take the steering knuckle off and install the header from the top. the headers will make a big difference, I gained a little more than 3 mph in the quarter!
