installing double rollerer tc - not enough slack?

I drove the crank sprocket on all the way and then lined the chain and cam sprocket up (marks pointed at each other 6 and 12 oclock) but i can't get the cam sprocket over the cam dowell (3 oclock) to save my life because I can't get enough slack. Is there some trick? I've been at it over an hour...

PS - cloyes pn 9-3145, the same one others run.

Heat that sucker up in a pan. It'll slide on like butter.

Heat what up? The chain? As in in a pot of water on the stove?

Put it in the stove at 150* for 30 min. Check for glazing and color.......no wait.....wrong forum.

I believe he means to heat the chain in the oven for a few minutes. Not more than 200*.

No need to heat anything. Just spin the cam until the dowel pin is in a lower position, slide the cam gear on it, then spin the cam back to the correct position and then put the cam bolts in.

I just take the hub sprocket and cam sprocket and put them on at the same time. Simple that way....

I ended up getting using shoebox's method, I'm not sure why I didn't think of that, it's definately the easiest if not the only way!

Thanks guys... I've got the whole front end assembled and it's down to heads/intake now!
