Installing 94-97 Corvette LT1 in 94Z28 ???

I bought a like new test motor from a 94-97 corvette LT1 and I am putting it in my 94Z28. Was wondering what the differences will be if any. I noticed the fuel lines are on the opposite side from my 94Z28 and the coil setup as well. What about sensors etc? Also, what would be the differences in the heads and cam? Anyone help on this? I am installing soon and need to know. Do I need different comp or do I have to have the 94Z28 tuned? Thanks....

Accessories are on the drivers side. Exhaust manifolds are different. Believe the vette lt1 also had a oil cooler. The cams should be the same unless you got a lt4 from a vette.

I installed a F-body motor in my vette and the diferences where the fuel rail, oilpan, Oil filter adapter (Off set on the corvette) all assy's and brackets, Dampner pulley, and valve covers. The 94 corvette Opti is the old style and the 95/96 is the newer style, ther is no 97 corvette LT motor 97 was C5 and LS1. The F-body pan works fine on the corvette but I dont believe the Vette pan will work on the F-body, if this is the case you will need to swap the oil pump pick up as well. There is no oil cooler on the corvette but the oil filter adapter up is off set to clear the cat's

Thanks for the replies...I believe it's a 94 cuz it has non vented opti. I will need to change the oil pan anyway as the pan has two hookups sticking out of it so they could run oil through it continuosly without a filter. I havent had a chance to look at it real close, its at the shop. Sensors the same like tps etc? Will I still need to swap the oil pump pickup? thanks guys....

It has the same heads and cam as you already have, once you swap all your stuff over too it and get it dropped in expect exactly zero gain so I hope this was as a repair. When comparing HP number people forget that those numbers are subject too the vehicle installed in, I believe the Vette got a better intake(before the TB) and better exhaust that accounts for any advertised HP difference. Along the same lines guys sometimes ask on the b-body boards about putting a 350hp crate motor in their car not realizing that if their stock motor was tested as a crate motor is with a dyno tune longtubes etc. they would be about there already.

Yes it's strictly for repairs. Had the valve spring clicking on number one cylinder and lost piston rod, piston, valve etc. under hard acceleration...you can view the pic here... http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthre...hreadid=274348

4-bolt mains are stronger. It means that the caps for the cranks have 4 bolts per cap. Main advantage is longevity and being able to spin the motor to a higher RPM safely.

Most LT1 Camaros have 2 bolts. Some have been said to have 4 bolt bottom ends swapped in during warranty replacements.

Thanks for the info Scoob...I thought the 4 bolt was stronger. Just making sure. I am only familiar with the 400 blocks and the difference between the 2 and 4 bolt mains. Glad you liked the thread.

The stock 2 bolt will take easily twice stock HP, once beyond that even if you have a factory 4bolt motor you probably want too look at aftermarket caps and such meaning factory 4 bolts were more or less to make snooty Vette owners think they got something extra.

If that engine came with the Accessories bracket and you are not going to use it, I sure could. Let me know.
