Thumbs up Installed lca relocation brackets, and now rear air bag...thoughts within...

Well heres the deal...at the end of last summer I decided I needed to do some suspension mods because even with Nitto Drs traction still sucked. Yes they hooked up better than your regular street tire, but still it wasn't that great. I started last year with BMR boxed lcas. It seemed to make the rear end feel more stiff and not want to squat as much, but traction didn't really improve much either. Yesturday I went ahead and installed BRM relocation brackets and set them to the bottom hole even though I have stock suspension height. This made a big difference. The rear end really felt solid and bit quite a bit harder off the line, although I could still spin the tires if wanted. Today I went ahead and installed the air bag in the rear spring. I inflated it to 25lbs. of pressure and man what a difference. Now the only way to get the tires to spin is to pop the clutch from a dead stop and even then they dig in pretty quick and the car goes. This is really exciting considering that my Nittos are pretty much bald with about 14K-15K miles on them, and the temps are only about 45 degrees out. I can't wait to get some ET streets and take it to the track! Although with 96K miles on the car and stock 10bolt/gears, Im thinking the rear end may now go bye bye in a hurry..

Just out of curiosity, How did your 60 ft times improve after the relocation brakets and the airbag?

Well I just put the brackets on yesturday and the bag today so I really dont know yet. Since Im in WI the local track doesn't open for another 3 weeks. I have heard the the brackets alone are good for about .2 off your 60ft. I would say between the brackets and the bag I can quite easily see this. The car digs much harder now and if it does spin at all it hooks up in a hurry.

Sorry I wont be making that run, I live just south of Green Bay so thats quite the drive for me. I have a local track about 15min. from my house so thats where I always go. They have opening day for April 18th.

Definitely get some track times. I've always said the LCA brackets are worth it, even on stock ride height cars. The bag will really help keeping the car straight on launch too.

94 CAMRO Z28, did you just use one airbag, in the passenger side? If you say it made that much of a difference, I'll definitely look into it!

I bought the airbag from thunder racing...and from what I can tell it didn't really affect handling much at all. As far as the install I jacked up the rear end of the car and installed jack stands under the frame rails. I then took off both tires. Unbolted each shock, and then lowered the rear axle of the car down untill I could pull the passenger spring off. You then fold the air bag and stuff it inside the spring. Put the spring back in and put it back together. I routed the air tub back to my rear bumper and mounted it facing down on the botom of the bumper cover. There is now a schrader vavle coming out of my rear bumper on the botttom out of sight and from there I can add or take out air. Patriot, yes I did use only one bag and it was something like $40 so it wasn't a huge investment. Im not going to say that it was a HUGE difference, but it made enough of a difference that with bald DRs and cold temps it was almost hard to spin my tires. Im very happy with the results.

Thanks for the reply. I'm all about anything that costs only $40 and makes a noticeable difference I'll definitely give this a try this summer.
