inline Fuel pump question
inline Fuel pump question
I have been searching through threads but havent found an answer to this one of my questions.
First, i planned on running my walbro 255LPH intank, then after the filter run an Aeromotive a1000 inline fuel pump with the 255 feeding it. My question was, would i be able to turn off the a1000 when im just putting around town and just run the intank...then run both when im spraying the jug? I know that you cant run the a1000 with a dead intank, but can you run the intank with a dead (off) inline? thanks

Yes you can, but you need a special switch to activate the inline pump instead of running it off the fuel pump relay like you would normally. Call Racetronix, they should be able to hook you up with everything needed.
The second pump (A1000) will push more fuel than the first by about 12%. That's just by quick calculation. Don't see the advantage to having the higher spec pump being fed by the lower spec'd pump. But then I don't see the advantage to 2 pumps anyway. The A1000 is more than adequate to supply all your needs. I run an A1000 in my street hiney hauler.
Could the reason to use the 2 be you don't want to sump the tank?
Don't think you can push fuel through a dead pump as easily as you would with just straight line but I'm sure there are fuel pump experts that can answer that.

slopok, yeah i CAN sump the tank, but i figured it would be so easy (not exactly easy, but easier) to just tap into the line after the filter and have the 255 feed the a1000. My line of thinking was that once the 255 primed the a1000, it should be able to pull sa much fuel past the 255 s it needed, to an extent. No doubt it would probably be better to just have the sump and a1000, but this is just a temporary job until i get time/money to do the whole system in a few months. any other thoughts on this?
I think you should go with just the Walbro in tank by itself. Later if you discover you need more fuel, then sump it and go the inline way. The Walbro should do you just fine without a second pump. Cheaper too!!!!!!
