How did you install your 5" tach on those ridges on the defroster hole? I don't want to drill into my dash or some ****. I was going to put it on the pillar but I don't know if that will be within my field of vision when I'm driving. I figured that you would have been able to install it without tearing up your dash since you are THE guru...
Toggle bolts.
It may shake a little, depending where you locate the tach. The alternative is to drill the screws into the ductwork under the vent grid. I also put a piece of stiff foam under the bottom of the tach for the track to keep it real solid.

The bolts you use to mount things in dry wall (sheet rock). The "toggle" is a little bar hooked to the nut, on a spring. You push the toggle through the hole with it up against the bolt. When it gets through the wall, it springs open and grips the wall from behind when you tighten the bolt.
ahhh i see... I'm going to try to screw it into the ducting under the vent. I have been trying to get a screw started but the windshield is so steep it's kinda hard... any suggestions on how I can get a screw started???
