Which Injectors Can I run on my 383 Stroker?

If anyone can help me out choosing my injectors that would be awesome. I had some Ford SVO 36# injectors but some how my engine builder or I lost 1 of them in this whole process. So now I cant find one more, and need to figure out what to buy now. With my custom grind cam from Joe Overton which is not small..specs on the cam are
23x/24x
.568/.548
and my head flow #'s were pretty high with Lloyd Elliot.(271 @ .600 lift and 266.5 @ .500 lift) I have all of the things in the lower sig. I was wondernig if I could get away with running 42# injectors or even 30# injectors. 36's are SO expensive!!! Thanks.

As long as your program your PCM for the size of injector you are running, I don't think it would matter what size you install. I would think that the 30 pounders would be fine for your application. Personally I run the 36 pound SVO ones.

Looks like your peak theoretical HP will be in the 520~530 flywheel HP, so I would venture to say that 36# would be ideal, but 42# will not hurt a bit - just get the fuel tables corrected so you don't foul plugs.

I'm running 42# Bosch injectors on my 383.

$1795, my cores. I got in on the GP they had about a month ago, and I got one of Phil's cams and a complete valvetrain package.

cool price, but flow numbers really dont mean anything to me...That is not the most important determining factor..

Really?? I always thought how well the heads flowed was one of THE most important determining factors...at least if you want to make good power. That is why we do this, isn't it? Obviously having the right combination makes the most sense.

not my intention to hijack this thread, but PORT VELOCITY (what most places dont advertise) is WAAYY more important than flow numbers. Please dont take this the wrong way. I just mean to tell you, flow numbers are not everything. Make sure to ask what the port velocity is before you buy a head.

I agree with you - velocity is as every bit as important, if not moreso, than the flow numbers themselves. Excessive turbulence will kill velocity in a head that might otherwise have great flow numbers had it been ported correctly. Phil at AI knows his stuff, and was cognizant of this when he did mine.

I have never seen Phil's work, but I have heard nothing but great things about them! Awesome purchase
