Initial SAR2K headed 355 dyno results..still a intermittent problem though

Dyno session went much better tonight. I have my power back since all cyl. are firing now. First pull I still had my high rpm miss at 6800..so I was kinda pissed.. Decided to make some quick changes in the DFI gen 7 before we pulled it off the dyno to see which way the tuning wants to go. Next pull the thing pulls to 7200. Looks like it may be the coil is just weak and can't recharge at the high rpms. The longer we ran the car before the pull the miss would return. So..I'm upgrading to something BIGGERR...lol. the only tuning I did was fuel related and it went up with every pull..havent even touched the timing yet.

On a good note..three quick pulls..small changes in the tune picked up a quick 10 rwhp from the first pull and I'm sitting at 454rwhp/400 rwtq. Nice fat power/torque curve too and its still carrying out at 7100. So..gonna replace the coil and starting some serious tuning on this thing. Hoping to pick up another 10rhwp or so and 15ish rqtq. Remember this is all through a moser 9" and 4.71s. Oh..The uncorrected numbers were right at 480 rqhp so that’s around 565 flywheel hp from this little lt4 headed 355.

Here is a previous dyno graph when i was having the ignition problem..Imagin this curve alittle higher and carrying out flat all the way to 7200 and still being at 450 at 7200. Sorry, don't have one of tonight but will get one when I finish the tuning.

nice numbers, what intake are you using ? LT4 or a single plane?

Nice numbers for sure! Keep tweaking on that tuning!

Awesome numbers for a 355. The torque curve is incredibly flat for a such high peak hp.

nice numbers!!! was that off the baseline tune I sent?? once you put a better coil on it let me know I can up the dwell time up for ya with the pro key that will help also...glad you got your demons tamed

Joe..yea..I took your baseline tune and basically just pulled some fuel out real quick to see how it reacted. didn't want to beat on it too bad untill i get the coil so I can really tune it then. Oh..I need that part number..can you pm or email that to me. Thanks..and what is this dwell tuning your talking about?

Yea....seems like I'm almost there..heheheheh.

Were you the one who did a flow test on the Lt4 intake with steve? He ported my intake for me and said that he would try to find the flow numbers of the intake he tested if he could find them. I know he just moved and all so i dont want to bother him too much but i was wondering if you had the flow results? If not ill try and get them from him. Awesome numbers man!! Wish i knew as much as you guys but i guess im still young yet

Sounds good joe..i will give you a call.

Brandon..yea that was me and don't worry about being young..even us old guys are still learning every day. I coppied the below from steves post about the test

I just tested this on an LT4 intake last week. I used a factory LT4 head that I'm about 90% done with for 95Bird. On the head I've worked the intake side to 205cc and it flows 275 @ .600
With the unported intake bolted up to the head on the bench it flowed 230.5 @ .600
After fully porting the intake (includes raising the runner) the combo flowed 251.8 @ .600
Peak gain 21.8 cfm.
Link for the flow graph:

Intake on bench:

Is it all worth doing... sure is if you want to go fast
Steve...

Good deal man...Only thing steve didnt do for me was raise the runner but well see how my shake down passes go and then ill make some decisions on what needs to be done next. Thanks for the info.

I don't know your setup but on my old heads the lt1 intake was just ported(by steve) and not raised. Managed to go 10.9s on that. Just the porting is a great improvement over stock if you have a strong motor. Keep us updated on your results.
