Question Info on CC306 Cam?

Anyone use this cam? What kind of power gains can someone expect from using this cam? Also can this cam be used with stock heads and stock torque converter? I was just wondering because I always hear people saying good things about the CC305 cam and from what I have heard the CC306 is just a more radical version of the CC305. Any help or information on the cam would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

I have the cam in my car and love it...it's radical for sure. I can't help you though with power gains because when I put the cam in I also put aftermarket heads and some other goodies at the same time so I'm not sure what the cam alone did for me. Also I have a 6-speed ....sorry, not much help

I jsut finished my install. I am hitting the track tomorrow. I have the stock stall and stock 2.73 gears and it is not big deal. It has a little cam surge and that is all. Vibrates more at idle and is loud. Other than that though, the car is very driveable with basically stock everything and a cam. You get more surge when in reverse. This is with programming though. You will definitely need that.

At the track, with all this stock crap I am hoping for 12.6-12.8 @ 110-112. I might be optimistic but I think they may be obtainable. I also think I may be running out of fuel up top around 6k so I am getting injectors and a reprgram to see if that cures it.

I'm watching it at the moment, I may buy it, it depends if my dad will let me spend my own money though.

Yo 95_RipperZ what do you change when you did install, like what kind of rockers did you get and what size? Also did you change your push rods and springs? Can you still use a timing chain or is it better to go to a gear set?

You will need to use a timing chain - LT1's are not fond of gear drives.

I don't think it's a good cam on a stock motor. The intake closing point is late, so this cam wants a higher static CR. In addition, it has poor low end torque and especially with an auto will need gears and/or a looser converter.

Then could you recommend a good cam? I was planing in the long run to get the heads P+P around the same time I had the cam work done.

You could go for one that's not so aggressive. Like a CC305, 304 or a Hot cam kit.

Well here are my track times from last night. Not too shabby for A4 wtih stock heads, gears (2.73), and converter. It should eclipse the 110 mark pretty easily with gears and converter.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. Maybe on a fully stock motor, but if you use LT's in place of the stock exhaust manifold, I think you would find the loss in low end torque negligible. I also have an A4 and stock converter and I notice no loss in low end torque at all.
