Independent Rear suspension on fbody

Has anyone ever converted the rear suspension on an fbody to independent rear suspension? If it has been done, how is the handling?

few have done it....not impressive results for the mad $$$ spent. instead of idependent rear end, buy sway bars and adjustable shocks, and lower control arms and a strut tower brace. You can get all the about suspension items for 1300 which is basically 1/2 the cost of the independent rear end conversion with 10 times the results

Yeah, the f-bodies weren't designed for IRS. Don't get me wrong, it's got a huge cool factor, but do you really need it? Answer... no. If you want IRS, get a Vette. If you want your f-body to handle well, just get a good rearend and some good suspension parts. At least with a 12 bolt or a 9 inch, you won't have to worry about breaking half shafts.

Waste of $$$... Never seen one myself, but the ONLY place where IRS has an advantage over a solid axle is on rough and uneven surfaces.... Otherwise, the solid axle is on-par, if not faster in many cases when setup properly.... This means not-stock.

Someone in the autocross section was guaging interest for the design of a IRS kit not too long ago. You might want to check in that section.
