ok so i ujust bought a 94 z28, this is a very simple question, the car has a 115mph speedo on it, my question is.......is there a speed limiter on lt1s? my z cut out at 120mph the other day and it was pulling like a raped ape! what the hell is that? do lt1 cars of n e kind (fbod) have speed limiters? also i noticed when i am at idle sometimes and i give it 2 quick hits on the gas it seems to wanrt to backfire or sneeze if u will out of the motor, what would couse something like this??thanks guys_Mike

 

If your car came stock with the 235/60-16 tires, it has a 120mph speed limiter. PCm for less of other tunner can program this out for you.

 

it should be limited to about 109 mph or if in fact the pcm hasnt been programmed otherwise. The original buyers who did not opt for the z rated tires got a speed limited car with a 115 mpg gauge cluster. the 'sneeez' as you call it could be spark plugs, wires, optispark distributor, coil maybe, check things out.

 

i figured plugs as much........do those power proggrammer 3s have a way to disable the speed limiter?

the power programmers can disable the speed limiter. Yeah weather is not to bad lately. Well see how long it lasts.

 

A tune from PCM for less is only $114. Bryan can do it and have it back inside of a week. Those tuners are almost $350 depending on where you get them.

i have never in my life seen a LT1-LS1 that was a V8 with 115 mph speedo, and i have been in alot of f-bodies

My 94 Formula A4 with 2.73's has a 115mph speedo. My friend with a 94 Z28 6-spd has a 115mph speedo, as well as another friend's 94 Z28 A4. I'm positive they're all 8 cylinders too

Someone my friends knows bought a 97 Z28 and it had a 115. Later he found out they just stuck on flowmasters and Z28 badges everywhere, he went back to the place he bought it but they closed down,

All the overlays I've seen for sale (even though 90% are lame) are for the 150 mph speedo. Guess I'll just have to junkyard a 150 cluster.

 

ya my 94z and my 94 formula both 273 a4 cars both have the 115 speedos, i just never went over a hundred in my formula so i wasnt aware of a limiter, also what is a "tune" and how does it differ from a programmer? how can someone do a mail order "tune"?

something i dont get about this, so he didnt look under the hood but did he drive it? That should have been the biggest giveaway. Also when he went to insure it (which he must tdo by law before taking a car off a dealer lot) no one told him either? Has he never heard a v6 before? and how do u put flowmaster's on an f bod w a single intermediate pipe? I just dont get it
