Impending Delteq install

Does anyone have any advice that I can share with the installer?

Will I notice any performance improvements? I had a water pump failure about 3 years ago. The car idles rough and runs like **** after I go through car washs.

Thanks...

Call me. I can help you out with any questions you might have.
Also click on the link I have in my signature (delteq install) this will give you some nice pictures of the set up and how to install the system.

Thx Jim

Did you take your rotor out of the Opti? If so, what did you use as a spacer to keep the metal plates for the Optical portion to stay in?

With customers cars who see over 6500 rpm I remove the metal part and cut off both ends of the rotor. This reduces the mass of the rotor and prevents the rotor from exploded under high rpm, (remember to install lock tight on the bolts when reinstalling the rotor).

If you don’t see over 6500 rpm then leave it alone and you should be fine.

Thanks for the link. This is what I will be doing when I rip this thing apart. I think the one in my motor now is destroyed like yours, as the DELTEQ all check out, but no running and timing isnt working to fire right. Matbe the optical sensor was messed up like youime will tell.

Re: Impending Delteq install

I just finished installing mine on the valve cover. Prior, my car was stumbling really bad after in town driving for more than 30 min. Thank god I decided to order this kit too because everything arrived Tuesday and the car started stumbling very frequently and I didn't even know if it would get me to work and home (10 min. each way) for the rest of the week. See my post for an impression of the install. If you need any help, my cell is 520-990-4963.

Re: Impending Delteq install

Take your time and be careful hooking the wires correctly into the coil pack. I purchased a bare bones kit and used a cadillac northstar coil pack. The numbering which comes on that coil pack is incorrect. You have to use the firing order stickers which comes in the kit.

If there is a problem, follow the excellent diagnostics which delteq provides. I had a problem with mine (motor would not start) and I traced it down to a bad PCM signal wire using the troubleshooting delteq provided. I repaired the wire, rebooted the PCM and it has run like a champ ever since.

BTW, I do have another cadillac northstar coil pack for sale if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the advice everyone! The installer just called and told me he has my car done already! I did not think it would be done until Tuesday. He says my car is running great. I can't wait to drive it!

Re: Impending Delteq install

As already stated, take your time and double check everything. It's a fairly simple, straightforward install. The thing that took me the longest was routing the wires. All in all it can be installed in 3-4 hours no problem.
