impala ss lt1 into an 80 Z28

has anybody installed or know anyone who has installed a lt1 and the 4l60e tranny into one of the 2nd gen cars? If so I was wondering if someone could inform me of the necessities for the swap as well as any other tips/tricks you may know of. I plan on using the efi and computer and installing a lt4 hot cam kit and porting the heads. I figured pcm for less or someone of that nature could get the computer set up right.

I know someone locally who did this in I thing a 89 so his fuel system was pretty much set already where you will have to plumb a return line and add a high pressure electric pump. Any of the reputable tuners could help you with the computer end of this.

On the engine DO NOT pay a price premium for that Impala motor it is exactly the same as any of the other b-bodies, a Roadmaster engine for example can often be had in better shape for less money, exactly the same motor just does not the the Impala name attached to it. While the heads are bing ported consider having the rocker studs pulled and tapped for screwin, with the HOT cam's .525 lift the pressed hold up quite well for guys but it just makes sense to upgrade while the heads are off in case you want more later. On the cam PLEASE do some more reading. People are way too quick to jump on that one, yes it works but it is not as wonderful as most new to this engine want to believe and is FAR from your only option.

thanks caprice, I actually have the imp ss set up because it is out of my totalled car so I dont have to spend anything on it. The car wont be a daily driver and i want a bigger cam, money would end up being the main limiting factor

If you didnt want to go through with the fuel pump stuff, you can always buy a new intake manifold for a carbeurator and then you dont have to worry about all the computer stuff, course youd need a different tranny, but its always an option.
