lifters

I installed some comp r's a couple of months ago while doing my engine build and decided to get my heads ported. If I put the lifters back in oil for a while will they still be ok? They still haven't been used yet.

Wish I could get some other lifters though after hearing so much bad stuff about these. Would stock lifters be ok to use too? I don't want to spend too much money on another set of lifters.

Re: lifters

As long as they arent damaged at all roller lifters can generally be reused. I dont know if you have to change them for a bigger cam or anything like that, but they dont create any specific wear patterns on the cam lobes, so they can generally be used as long as the condition is good.

Re: lifters

Stock lifters if they are in good shape will be fine.

Re: lifters

Use a .001 feeler guage and feel the 0 spot. It won't be much drag but ya should be able to feel it. If the intake is off ya can do it with the spin method and watch the cap in the lifter for movement. This is how ya learn how to "feel" the pushrod for drag. Then 1/8 turn.
