Impala MAF difference

I just bought an lt1 from a 94 impala. It's got most of the parts except it's missing the mas air meter. Is there a difference (besides size) of the lt1 one and the impala one?

Re: Impala MAF difference

I believe the Impala is a 3" apposed to the f-body 3.5" MAF

Do they use the same style connector? Can either be used?

Same wiring just make sure the pcm is flashed for the appropriate sensor(whatever you use) because they do read differently.

The PCM program is calibrated for the particular meter (as 96capricemgr was saying). So even if you could plug it in, it would not read the same to the PCM as the stock unit. IMO, stick with the f-body MAF.

I bought Impala MAF to replace my defective F-body MAF. Would I be running rich or what? My engine is 385 with cc 306 and 30# SVO's. Was tuned by Pcmforless for ported MAF.

The tune will be way rich. The pcm will dump too much fuel because it thinks that there is a lot more air coming through than there actually is. Also, Impala MAF maxes out at around 330 gm/sec which is approximately 320 rwhp.

What's a quick fix without replacing the MAF. I know tuning will do with rich condition but what about the restriction. Will descreening and/or porting the MAF help push more air through.

The Ace Delco impala MAF cost me $93.Where can I get an F-body MAF for around such a price.

Re: Impala MAF difference

The rich condition can be easily fixed with programming.

A ported MAF will push more air but it's easy to screw up a good tune this way. It still won't support over 350 rwhp.
