Immediate Help Please
I NEED to know how to take out the tranny computer for my 4l60e... if it involves dropping the tranny itself, i already know how to do that so you don't have to include info on that. but i need to get the computer out and i don't even know where it is...
erk! help!

These cars use a PCM (powertrain control module). The same computer that controls the engine and emissions devices also controls the transmission. That's the box under the hood, passenger side, in the very corner underneath the windshield.
What are you trying to do
What are you trying to do
To remove the PCM
1.) disconnect negative terminal from the battery
2.) remove two bolts that hold PCM mount to the frame (don't recall exact size)
3.) pull PCM up and out of car
4.) disconnect four wiring harness terminals
You now have the PCM in your hands. Doesn't take more than a few minutes

Yes it will. You're going to have to get that sorted out sooner or later though
It's not really necessary but a very good idea to disconnect the battery whenever working on electrical systems. If you really don't want to mess with the stereo at this point I would at least pull the fuses to the PCM.

its the fuse that says ECM i believe. Why does the tranny have to be programmed into the computer being as it came from an Impala? Could be part of my problem if you need that done. I have a Caprice tranny in my truck with a Torqmaster 2400 stall and I hate the launch I get

yep! thats the thingy bro...
im have the exact same converter...
im not gonna lie to you and say that i completely understand what he told me and all... but he said that without the programing, the tranny wouldn't run right/ or shift...
so i'll just believe him...

i undid those two top nuts that hold the pcm to the mount... but i didn't undo and electrical connecticions yet...
the pcm jiggles, but it won't budge up or down... is there anything else mounting it on the bottem?
