IM scared POSSIBLE OIL PUMP PROBLEM

Hey Fbods. WOW im pretty sure you saying this guy has so manny problems. Well if it wasnt for my love for Fbodies. I would be driving a Stang by now. BUT NEVER. LOL anyway check this out. I think I have a oilpump problem but im not sure. I have REplaced my SENDING unit. MY Gages still reads Zero when I start the car and let it idol. Also when I turn the key back and forward. I can see the oil gage moving just a little but it never goes pass Zero and the Check Gages light is on. SO I really hate to ask this question. BUt DO I have a Bad oil PUmp. ALSO if a motor goes through alot of heat. WOULD that cause a oil pump to go bad? DO LT1's make alot of oil to the top end when your adjusting the roller rockers? I have oil coming up but not a lot. I dont think. I need help. Please dont tell me the pump is gone. LOL
Thanks
Chris

Unplug the connector to the oil pressure sensor and see if the gauge pegs out with the key ON or engine running. If it does not, you have a problem with the gauge or wiring. You can also test oil pressure by temporarily putting a mechanical gauge on it.

Is there oil in the engine? Just a thought.
Also I would definately verify the gauge is good before I crack the pan open.

WELL guys check this out. I went to go pick up a Mechanical Gage from Autozone. I took the sending unit off. Hooked teh gage up. WOLA. NO FREAKING PRESSURE. The gage stayed at Zero. IN fact there was NO oil moving through the hose to even get any kinda of reading. NOTHING at ALL. NOw like I said before. WHen the sending unit was hooked up. When I turn the key on and off. The neddle would MOVE just slighty. And thass it. SO Im now convinced that the pump is gone. SO FUgg it is 383 time. Im tired of the BS. My gage is working just fine. based on my turing the key on and off and see it move. SO tell me what you guys thinks of that. please

THeres a way you can replace the pump while the motor is still in the car? IF so I wanna no. I really dont have any cash for a stroker motor right now. BUT sure would love it. ALSO let me tell you this. IF that PUmp was not working at all. SHould my motor have seized BY NOW. I still see oil coming up to the heads. MAYBE the pump is good still. I dont no. Feedback please

Well Im kinda of skeptical little bit about the pump being gone. I just ran the motor just now. THeres oil sitting there at the top end of the motor. MAYbe its not a oil pump.

Maybe the port that the gauge reads from is restricted somehow. There is a port down by the oil filter where you can read the pressure as well.
If you have to change the op with the motor in the car just rais it up high, and loosen the K-member bolts about an inch and a half (support with jack) then just unbolt the pan and work it out.
The intake will need to be removed as well to make sure you get the drive hooked up correctly.

The TC will help it idle a bit better and especially at the light in gear.

what size do you think. Iwas going to go with a 2500 stall. But I see you have at least a 3000. But mines not a stroker. So im leaning more torwards a 2700-2800 around in there. ALso I wanted to ask you. Can we say almost positive that its not the OIL pump Due to the fact that theres OIL in my heads on the top end of the motor.? Cuase if there was no OIl pressure it would be BONE dry right??
Thanks
Chris

I really cant say about the oil pump, the primary oiling heirarchy starts with the mainbearings first and goes up from there. You definately have a problem somewhere. If there is oil squirting out the push tubes up top there is some oil pressure there, you just dont know how much, you may have a clog somewhere or something.
The converter would be nice in the 2800 range.
