I'm gonna break this thing....valve lash

Okay I'm frustrated ta shieet. I'm trying to djust my valves with the car running. Everyone says to back off the nut until you hear the clacking...then tighten til it stops. i can hardly tell the diff. They also say the nut shjould spin freely and when it stops...go a quarter turn after that. mine don't spin freely. i can hear 8 rockers. Anyone got to this point and just wanna throw a wrench in it???

I thought the same thing. I thought it was a PITA.

The clack is pretty loud. Are others clacking also so its hard to distinguish? If they are you might want to slowly tighten them all down so there is no noise, then start loosening one at a time until it clacks, then 1/4 - 1/2 past that.

I couldn't do it with the spinning pushrod way, the rockers were always loose when I ran the car.

Those are the instructions right there. You should hear the ticking from the one you are loosen. You should also get alot of oil splash from the one you are loosen . If not you havent loosen it enough.

I plan to do mine this weekend. Here is a website I found searching the board. Steps 22-25 gives you two methods to do the adjustment.
