I'm going to kill somebody

so i get some sea foam today to clean out my 94, all goes well when i let the intake soak up 1/3 (ONE-THIRD!!!!!) of a can before the engine dies, now I was tilting the can, then straightening it to give the motor just a little bit at a time. so yea engine dies, i let it sit 20 minutes come back to start and....

after a few cranks, THUNK!, ****ing thing hydrolocks over 6 ounces of seafoam. so I pull the plugs, and on the last one, the insulator cracks in my hand when I'm lifting it out of place (6.99 delco platinum ) so off to the 24 hr autozone and i get a new plug. come back crank the motor and it spits all kinda crap everywhere, then i reinstall plugs. Done? NO

i get on with changing my oil with some fresh mobil 1, forget to fill up the filter in my hurry so I pull the coil wire and crank it a few seconds to distribute the oil. Put coil wire back on and try to start....

NOTHING but a damn flashing security light on my dash So obviously something prompted VATS to shut my car down, I don't know why I didn't disable that thing when I tuned it. whatever I'm resetting the PCM right now, which I think will turn off VATS? otherwise I'll just hook up my laptop and disable that ****.

End of rant.

Re: WTF I'm going to kill somebody

Eventually even a new key won't make contact with the worn out contacts in the switch. You're better off just bypassing the function with a resistor of the same value as the key pellet.

Yeah, those contacts in the ignition switch are so particular that all it takes it someone to try and put in the wrong key or the right key upside down and they get bent outta shape. Somebody said you could bend them back with a dental tool, most I've seen will just bypass it for a permanent fix.

thanks a lot guys, yea i did some research late last night and that's pretty much what i was reading. the resistance in my key is about 2467 ohms, so down to radioshack I go. oh yea thanks shoebox i saw the schematics for it on your page as well

just note that bypassing vats makes your car much easier to steal

Re: I'm going to kill somebody

True, but if you put a tiny(miniature) switch in series with the resister and then hide it.....then even the right or jimmied key won't start it.
