Im doin the dreaded

Well im goin against the odds and throwing 4.56 gears in my 94 M6. I got the gears made for the series 3 carrier produced by richmond. Im probably gonna try to beef the 10-bolt. Ive been running to 4.10's since ive owned the car which is about a year and i have no idea how long theyve been in the car but i havent lost a rear yet. (knock on wood) Im switching at 6500 on 315/35/17 nittos. Im planning on doin heads and cam in the near future. I have drag raced the car but always in the 8th, so i shouldnt have the switch to 5th problem.
Shew, now with that bein said whats everyones thoughts?

with 4.56 you will be shifting into 5th before the end of the 1/4.

4.56+315s=broke rear end, maybe not the first couple runs but it will break.

i would not go anymore than 4.10s sorry... but i dont mind you being a test dummy.

What were you launching at with the 4.10s? I think the 4.56 is DEFINITELY gonna claim your 10 bolt. But, as someone said...there's always exceptions.

Me, I wouldn't want to have to shift to 5th in the 1/4, so 4.10s are MAX in my book.

Good luck!

From what I understand, it's all a crapshoot. There's a few people on here running mid-low 11s and cutting 1.6 short time on a stock 10 bolt! Then again, there's people who drag for the first time, pull a 2.2 60' and blow it out!

Like I said, good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Well i NEVER run the 1/4 always the 8th so like i said im not worried about the 5th gear shift. Its not a daily driver. I made 2or 3 launches at 5000-5500 on the 315/35/17 nittos. Im gonna give it a shot to see what happens. i guess im gonna buy some 7.5 upgrade parts to see how long it will last. Any suggestions besides 12 golt or 9in?
