Ignition Switch be causing Code 46?

Car died while driving, wont start, code 46, 18. Explained all on previous post but wondering about search. Did a search and came up with a couple of situations where guys cars would not start with pass key DTC(like me) and it ended up being the "ignition switch". My question is what is it, could it be the source of my problem, and how do i replace it on my own. Any info appreciated.

I don't know if you ever said, but were the dash gauges, idiot lights and key "dinger" working when you turned the key on or were they all dead, too? If they are dead, that is usually a symptom of the ignition switch. Sometimes you can flick the key back and forth and the switch might hit a position where it will work for a little bit.
There is R&R info on my Tech Page.

All of those lights and stuff come on. The security light comes on for a few seconds then turns off. Weird because wouldnt it stay on since i am throwing the pass key code? This is really frustrating.

Doesn't exactly sound like your switch, then. Maybe your theft deterrent module or relay bit the dust.

I am having it towed to a reputable place. ( the same place that did my clutch). Do you think they will be able to pinpoint the problem? I dont know how long i can live without my car!!!!!

that included towing, a new battery, the switch, comp scan, and labor. If i would have known thats what was wrong with it i would have done it on my own but i had no idea. All thats important is my car is fixed.
