ignition stuck question

Question ignition stuck question

today I parked my car and couldnt turn it off.. The ignition seemed to be stuck. Any ideas what i should look for? why its doing it? Car is a 96 trans am with 70k

the situations seems similar. the car is a manual, the key was in the on position but stuck so that I couldnt turn the key backwards to take it out. the key lock button didnt seem stuck, i depressed it like usual but the entire key knotch wouldnt turn back, eventually after fighting with it it did however.

Similar, maybe, but not the same as the help I posted since it is for an automatic (that's why you should post more pertinent info when you ask for help).

Could be your key cylinder or mechanism in the steering column is messing up or your ignition switch (which is down on the lower part of the column) is worn out and hanging up.
