Ignition Retard

When running datamaster on my camaro, I see sometimes at WOT I'm pulling as much as 14.4 retard!

Could this be caused purely by LTs, Loud exhaust and a header leak? Or should I be looking at something else?

I run on 91 octane at all times, has fresh plugs and wires(did it before too).

You might try an LT4 KM to see if it makes any difference. JMHO

I know what you mean: however I've heard roomers that you can actully get that much retard if you have a bunch of false knock. If you were running 93 octane, perhaps the result might not be so drastic, but the cost of gas if high enough. With that much retard, you are probably not seeing the performance that you should.

Many have experienced improved response and performance by spending $30.00+- on the LT4 KM, even if it is just with their scanner and not SOP.

Worth a try IMHO. Keep us informed.

make that "rumors" not "roomers"---I haven't heard no stinkin' roomers.

Is it possible you have a DTC 43 for a faulty knock sensor circuit?

yea im prety sure you can adjust the knock sensor with tunercats but having it pull almost 15 away you might have some actual knock. But im guessing most of that is the header leak.

No code 43 for Knock Sensor.

I've had it into a mechanic and he says he thinks its from the noisy exhaust and the leak.

How could I verify real knock?

Guess I'll track down someone who might have access to some lol.

Nearest race track is 1 1/2 hrs away.

You shouldn't be getting that kind of knock retard from a noisy exhaust. Check the passenger side motor mount. Its right next to the knock sensor and if its loose or the rubber is rotted away, its going to cause major knock retard problems. Also check for a high voltage ignition wire too close to the knock sensor wire. That can cause extraneous signals in the knock sensor circuit.
