Ignition passkey? problems

So last night I drive home, no problems, turn off the car set the stock alarm and walk inside. My friend calls me as soon as I get in the door, so I go back to the car disarm the alarm open the door sit down and go to start the car and the key no longer turns to start. It turns to on, but not to start, and the security light goes on. I cleaned the key with some wd40, tried it like 500 times and even tried unplugging the battery for 20 mins... nothing has worked. Any ideas?

That sounds like a faulty lock cylinder. Try some graphite. The pass key system has nothing to do with turning the key to the start position. The lighting of the security light is probably just part of the lamp test and would go out as soon as the car started.

Right, the Passkey system has no way to physically keep you from turning the key to START. Could be the lock cylinder and/or it's mechanism or maybe the ignition switch is jammed.
