ignition key problem please help asap
ok, (1996z28) i was driving my car yesterday and i was going about 50 and out of no were it died out....., so i pulled over and it started up with no problems so i was on my way again... i parked the car for about 4 hours. then i turned the key on and there were no dash lights. so i tryed starting it and when, i put it on the cranking postion the lights came on and it started, and then it died, down the road again but this time to keep it running i had to hold it on the starting postion and i had to drive it home like that ........so basicly when i turn the key onto the power postion there is no power and when i am cranking it there is power and after it starts i let go of the key and it die's out

Ignition switch
Sounds like the ignition switch took a crap on you man. I had a toyota camry at work that did the same thing a couple days ago. You had to hold the key in a certain position to keep it running. The lady had a s*** load of keys on the key chain. The car was a 2000 model and the only thing i can see is all the weight was the reason for the premature wear on it. Hope that helps.
