Re: ignition coil

I don't have an elbow there. I have a k &n air filter that has a hole larger than the vacuum hose but it's between the filter and the maf sensor.

Re: ignition coil

The larger connection midway between the filter and the MAF sensor is the connection for the air supply to the AIR pump. Has your AIR been deleted? If so, that connection should be closed off.

95-97 should have the hole in the RUBBER intake elbow between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. If your 97 elbow doesn't have one, you have the 93/94 intake elbow. Drill a hole in the rubber elbow slightly smaller than the blue plastic vent line elbow, and push the blue plastic elbow into it.

The connection for the Opti vent needs to be AFTER the MAF sensor, because that air ends up in the intake manifold, and has to be accounted for as part of the air/fuel calculation.

Re: ignition coil

I don't know if the air pump has been deleted. What's it look like and where would it be? Going to square up the opti vents tomorrow morning.

Re: ignition coil

The AIR pump bolts to the front of the engine, driver's side, below the head.

Do not leave the hole in the air duct open... it would be allowing dirty air into the engine.

Driver's side of the T56 manual transmission.

Go back and read my earlier response:

Re: ignition coil

Aside from a small drip from a heater hose (replacing in the morning), I think it's all squared away. Thanks for all the help, hope I can pay it forward one day.

Re: ignition coil

Cranks and runs perfect. After about 30 minutes ses light came on. Scanned and got P0140 and P0160 oxygen sensor no activity bank 1 and bank 2 respectively. Going to look for a loose harness but will these harm anything. Also when starting it when hot it seems to struggle at first then starts within a few seconds. Starter may be getting weak or have a bad spot that shows up when hot?

Re: ignition coil

Those codes are for the after-cat sensors. They don't control anything, just there to see if the cats are working. Is it possible someone has removed the cats and replaced the O2 sensors with "O2 sims"?

Re: ignition coil

That's good to know. I'll check it out on Friday morning. Seems to be running pretty good overall. Holding my breath and hope it stays that way.

Re: ignition coil

Nothing new but why does the ses light blink sometimes? It's on because of year 02 sensor but it has started blinking every so often.

Re: ignition coil

SES blinks when the PCM detects engine misfires that could damage the catalytic converter.

Re: ignition coil

Any misfire info comes from the crank position sensor, right?

Re: ignition coil

The PCM uses the data from the CKP sensor and the cam position sensor in the Opti.
