If the ignition coil dies would the car still run?

No, That is what sends the voltage to the opti. Also if you have a no start issue check your fuel pressure as well.. Or you could explain whats happening. Maybe we could help

Re: Ignition Coil

I see you have a MSD box... disconnect it and see if the problem still occurs. If so you found your problem, if not i would look into fuel pressure or maybe that opti.

I have had some Engine missing problems that I fixed by replacing spark plugs... It seems like the Spark Plugs internal resistor has been burned out or just could not take the MSD6a. I have replaced my NGK's three times in one year... just a couple of days back I removed one of them and the internal resistor was on its way out already. it measured a whopping 36Kilo ohms... when it should have been below 5 kilow ohms.

I replaced the NGK Plug with a Brand new Bosh single plat that has an iternal resistor of 3 kilo ohms and my car is runing good for now... I will drive around for a while then remove the spark plug and measure it again to check for the resistance and see if it has changed.... if it too its on its way out then I have some sord of ignition malfuction that is burning up the spark plugs resistors... If the spark plug still reads the same resistance.. then i will think it was bad NGK sparkplugs that I installed in my LT1.

I has also crossed my mind that I may have been sold some fake NGKs.... because everyone here has good results with them except me. I never measured the Brand New NGK's resistors before I installed them but they alrways ran good at first and slowly deteriorated till it began to miss... but only on one or two spark plugs. If my Bosh sparkplugs last a while I will considere buying one more set of NGKs and measure their reisistances while brand new.... I hear too many good things about them to give up on them so soon. Check your plugs resistance before you go buying all kinds of expensive parts... I have a gut feeling you may find something weird.

Re: Ignition Coil

Sea foam huh, i had this problem after running GM's "Top Engine Cleaner" i took mine for a highway run and it cleared up.. Before it would run like crap idle rough, lack power, hesitate & ect.... how did you inject it into the engine?

Re: Ignition Coil

well the spark plugs got changed after the incident. So they shouldnt be dead considering they only have about 5 minutes of total run time.

I injected it through the brake booster line.
