Ignition box causing a code 16?

I replaced my opti because of a high rpm stumble, got everything back together, the car started and ran for a second then shut off. I noticed my mallory box wasn't displaying info the way it usually does, so I bypassed it, cleared the code, and the car ran fine.

After I drove around for awhile, I hooked the box back up, started the car, got the code 16 and it shut off again.

I'm sure I have everything hooked up right. Did my box just crap out the two days it was not being used? Any suggestions on what I might have overlooked?

I thought that only a bad opti could throw out that code. Guess I was wrong.

Man I don't think it's your box. Run it a while without it, that should tell you if it's the box.

The code sets when the PCM does not receive the low resolution pulse signal from the optical cam position sensor in the Opti. It's counting high res pulses, and when it gets to 720 without seeing a low res pulse, it sets the codes and shuts down the fuel system. Maybe your "box" wiring is interfering with the Opti signal.

Well I drove the car without the box hooked up for about an hour today and it ran fine. I'll check the wiring out again, maybe I damaged a wire or something along those lines.
