If you run rich, can that ruin performance?

I was having problems w/ my maf
so im pretty sure we tuned it so i would be getting more fuel

Now i replaced my maf and it seems as if for the first 5-10 km the car doesn't go as if should
then after that it seems to run decent?
any idea
