Idle hunting while coasting...

Weird little problem that has just popped up recently. My car seems to hunt for the idle RPM while I am decellerating with clutch disengaged. It idles perfectly while stopped and does not surge under load. Nothing else seems weird. It will pop from about 1100 to 1400 while coasting and then drop back down to 900 when stopped. First thing I thought of was a vacuum leak, but with almost everything removed except for the basics I find this hard to believe. Plus, the fact that it does not do it while stopped.

Any help or suggestions would be great... Thanks

Shot in the dark here, but have you tried cleaning the usual stuff like the IAC?

I would venture to do that, but it just doesn't make sense to me that it would idle perfectly and only do it while decelerating... That's the only reason that I am leaning towards a vacuum leak. There's no reason I can't clean that stuff, so I will....

Any more suggestions?

Mine was doing that not too long ago and it turned out that I had inadvertantly turned on Speed Density mode in LT1edit. Once I turned it off, the surging went away.

hmmm, thats an interesting theory. I think I'll pull my intake elbow and see if the car still runs... Its possible that I did that....

Mine kind of has had the same problem before. When coming up to a sudden stop and having the clutch in, the rpms would dive to maybe 700 then up to 12-1300, then back down, and once I actually would stop it would go back to around 900. I cleaned the IAC and all was well. Its just starting to come back again so maybe its time for another cleaning.
