Idle from HELL!!!!!!

Well now my NEW problem is a low idle.
When I come to a stop, the car idles so low, it feels like it is going to shut off. It idles around 600-700. It is an m6 as well. I was getting a code 33 for a map sensor too high(cause probably by the low idle) so I cleared the code, and replaced the sensor as well. I took the IAC out and cleaned it,(it was replaced less than 1000mi ago.) and took it out for a drive, and still too low of a idle. I also scanned it and checked the TPS, it has perfect voltage. What else can this be? Thanks guys!

Did this problem occur after a modification or did it show up out of the blue?

Sounds like a problem I had after installing my 383. Just had to reprogram my IAC steps vs temp to compensate for extra cubes and cam.

How do you reprogram the IAC for cam change?

i found out how to reset the IAC, I will try that, hopefully it is that, cause this idle sucks.

I used LT1-edit under engine and the table is Park Position vs Coolant Temp.

There is also a IAC Throttle follower vs MPH that keeps idle higher while in motion so you have more vacuum for braking and makes for smoother shifts on a manual. If I remember right I logged to car and found what the IAC counts were to maintain my 900 rpm idle and subtracted I believe 5 counts and used that. No more hunting of idle while coming to a stop.

Deenasty what was changed prior to the problem?

nothing really..I replaced the o2's, and put in a new MAP sensor. The car is a 383 with a large cam, but was idling fine before the problem, so i really dont know what the problem could be. Tomorrow I am going to swap my IAC with a friend and see if that helps, although my IAC is very new. The only other thing I can think of is that I might have a vaccum leak. The cam that is in the car is a 240/240 595/595 112, so I know it doesnt make great vaccum, but it idled fine before. I scanned the car, and both the IAC, and the TPS seemed to be fine at idle. Even if I am driving say 40mph, and i stick the clutch in, the idle drops below 1000rpms. If the IAC doesnt do anything, I am going to check to vaccum leaks with an air compressor, and pressurize the intake, and see if i hear a leak. Any ideas?

please excuse my ignorance if this sounds like a stupid reply
on my car a4 i had a horrific idle problem like you were speaking of, one of the vacumn lines on the passanger side throttle body came off and caused it all

This could well be a possible cause, but I checked all the lines and they were all plugged in.

I don't have access to Lt1 edit ( no laptop ) I do have a hypertech power programmer. Can I use the hypertech to set the IAC?

The computer sets the IAC counts by virtue of what idle speed is desired.

you have to step on the throttle partially, then start the car, let it run for 5-10 seconds, then shut it off for another 5-10 seconds, and its done....

I replaced the IAC and the TPS, and still the same problem. perhaps it is tuning?

Have you checked the EGR valve?

no I have not, how can I tell if it is bad? Sometimes at a stop, the idle will rise back up and look for its idle..Can these be signs of the EGR?

If it is not closing all the way, your idle will be poor. I would take it off and check it out.

Well I just unplugged the hose that goes from the EGR solinoid to the valve, and took it for a quick drive, and seems to idle fine now!!!! Occasionally it will drop a bit, but quickly come back up. So i guess I will be replacing both the valve and solinoid monday, thanks a million ShoeBox!! You never fail to enlighten me !!
