Angry At idle, car's rpms lower after a while and SES light comes on????

What could be the problem here? At idle only in park... the RPM's will lower after running for a second and the SES light will come on. It will not do this in any gear, it just happens at idle. There isn't a miss either. Could it be my AIC going bad or a sensor?

helpppp

thanks

Unplug your battery.

Remove your IAC and throttlebody and clean them out thoroughly.

Re-install and try again.

Where is the IAC, isn't that on top of the intake on the side? The intake and everything was just cleaned when I had my valve job done last week. And how do you clean the IAC? Did this happen to you as well?

The IAC motor is on the plate on the bottom of the throttle body - the one the two coolant hoses connect to. Check on Shoebox's website... I'm sure he had pictures. You should be able to unscrew the IAC motor without removing the TB, but then all you can clean is the IAC motor. If you remove the TB, there are about 7 screws that hold the plate on. Remove it and clean the passages in the plate and in the TB.

Better yet, before you jump to conclusions, why not get it scanned so you can find out why the SES light is on. Maybe the EGR valve is popping open, and you'll be fixing the worng thing if you rip the IAC stuff apart...... just a thought.... but the SES light and the codes are there to help you find the problem.
